New Miata Product: The TopLoc!
Posted on 18. Jun, 2009 by jeffz in Products
In our humble opinion, this nifty little device is worth its weight in gold. Recently, the theft of Miata hardtops – taken right off the cars – has been on the rise. With the price of a used top over $1,000 wherever you go, it’s no wonder.
The TopLoc is simple and effective. It’s a big chunk of machined aluminum that’s bolted into the existing holes in your hardtop mount. It protects the latch mechanism and it’s chunky enough to resist a pry bar. It’s enough to make hardtop thieves look elsewhere. But when you want to get at your hardtop, just turn the tumbler key and the TopLoc comes right off.

I saw these guys at Miata Palooza in Monterey. Cool dudes and a cool product. Little steep on the price. If they drop it to $100 I’m buying one.

I own one of these locks and it is amazing. Such a simple design yet so effective. If you own a Miata this item is a must.

Are the thieves breaking into the cars to get at the latches and then taking the top, or are these cars being left unlocked? The hardtop should make the car as secure as a sedan and insurance should cover the top.
I have a soft top and it’s all I need.
